Each safety chain is only as strong as its weakest link: It is crucial that security products against burglary are installed by professionals. The police stress that the reason burglaries are successful despite existing security mechanisms and devices is often the deficient installation. Therefore, VdS certifies the installers of security systems as well as the products themselves.
VdS-approved installation companies ensure that in the installation of VdS approved alarm systems - fire and intrusion alarms, video surveillance – they comply with the respective VdS guidelines for planning and installation (VdS 2095 for fire alarm systems, VdS 2311 for intruder alarm systems, VdS 2366 for video surveillance systems).
The approval as an installation company for alarm systems may be issued for one or more of the following disciplines:
- Intruder alarm systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Video surveillance systems
The approval is valid for one or more VdS-approved alarm systems and is valid for four years. The approval with the specialist subject of fire detection and alarm systems includes certification to DIN 14675 BMA for all phases.
The services of VdS-approved installers for mechanical security systems and devices comprise of one or more of the following areas:
- Retrofitting of doors and windows
- Installation of doors, windows / glazing and grilles
- Manufacturing of grilles
- Installation of shutters
VdS offers an approval procedure for companies for the service of certified secure storage units (SSU) on the basis of the VdS 3529 guidelines.
These guidelines describe the basic requirements for service work on secure storage units and apply to service providers who carry out service work on secure storage units which are certified in accordance with European standards (e.g. EN 1143-1) and national guidelines (e.g. VdS and RAL).
This includes in particular maintenance, repairs and conversions.
