VdS Approval

Installer Company for Alarm Systems

The VdS approval for installers is one of the highest awards to show outstanding quality to the outside world. It has been repeatedly confirmed that the VdS approval is the most important criterion for purchasers of safety and security technology*.

VdS approved installation companies ensure that in the construction and installation of VdS approved hazard alarm systems - fire alarm, intrusion alarm and video surveillance systems - the relevant VdS guidelines (VdS 2095 for fire alarm systems, VdS 2311 for intruder alarm systems, VdS 2366 for video surveillance systems) are complied to. The certification of conformity with the VdS guidelines is then carried out by the installation certificate VdS 3407. Furthermore, the VdS approved installation company offers the regular maintenance of the VdS approved hazard alarm system.

The installation company must employ appropriate specialists and is regularly checked by VdS. The approval as an installation company for hazard alarm systems may be given for one or more of the following specialisations:

  • Intrusion alarm systems
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Video surveillance systems

The approval is valid for one or more VdS approved hazard alarm systems and for four years. The approval in the field of fire alarm systems includes the certification in accordance with DIN 14675 BMA for all phases.

The approval procedure has been developed in accordance with the framework guidelines for installers of fire protection and safety technology (CEA 4002) of the Comité Européen des Assurances (CEA, now Insurance Europe, IE). These CEA framework guidelines are recommendations agreed in the European insurance industry. They determine minimum requirements for installation companies.

In addition, the approval procedure takes into account the requirements of DIN EN 16763 "Services for Safety Systems" as well as the requirements of DIN 14675 for Fire Alarm Systems with regard to the proof of competence of the installer (in DIN 14675 so-called "specialist company".
