Accreditation and notification

An accreditation is the confirmation by a third party body that VdS has the competence to carry out certain tests, assessments and certifications.

In accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020, the VdS Technical Inspection Body is accredited by the German Accreditation Body GmbH (DAkkS) as a Type A inspection body for the testing of stationary fire protection systems.

The VdS laboratories are accredited by the German Accreditation Body GmbH (DAkkS) in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 for testing products.

The VdS Certification Body is accredited for the certification of

  • products in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065
  • Installers and specialist companies in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065
  • Security service providers in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065
  • Management systems in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17021
     

In addition, there is a notification as a certification body recognised by the building authorities (Notified Body) in accordance with the EC Construction Products Regulation, which is registered under the identification number 0786. VdS offers procedures for the assessment and verification of the constancy of performance (system 1) for construction products used in fixed fire protection systems in accordance with the BauPVO (Construction Products Regulation).
