The high pressure water mist system 'Water Mist' may be used only for the protection of following hazards/areas according to VdS 3188 annex K.1.6.
Protection of selected OH-3 sales-, storage- and technical areas within OH-1 areas
Maximum allowable ceiling height: 4 m
The individual area shall be surrounded by non-flammable outer surfaces (no fire protection classification). Outside the fixed walls a row of sprinklers shall be installed with the same parameterization/design as inside the area.
It can be done without the additional sprinkler row outside the area, if the walls are fire resistant (F 90) or the walls are exterior walls of the building or there are protected areas other than mentioned above.
Restrictions and limitations:
- The pure sale of furniture with foamed plastics is not allowed,
- A special proof is necessary for extensive open areas (e.g. Malls),
- No computer rooms,
- No storage of flammable liquids, gases etc.
- Only room protection (no content or facility protection), storage height is dependent on type of storage: Cat. I = 3,00m, Cat. II = 2,60m, Cat. III = ¿1,70m and Cat. IV = 1,20m.
The chaotic storage of material with exposed plastic surfaces amounting to > 25% of total surface and not stored in cartons is permitted up to 5% of the total storage or capacity.
Type of storage ST1 / ST4:
Maximum extension of areas: 120 m² (design of the effective area: size of area plus 50%, however 180 m² maximum).
Type of storage ST5 / ST6:
Design of the effective area for these areas 216 m² (according to VdS 3188).
The enclosure 3 of the approval and the installation manual of the manufacturer have to be observed.
