New Guidelines: VdS 2100-47

Very first VdS support for safe sprinkler diesels

Diesel pumps kickstarting immediately in an emergency make water extinguishing systems completely independent of power supply. VdS now supports manufacturers and users with Guide-lines for the reliability of those important engines.

Press Release 13/2025

Cologne/Germany, July 1st 2025. Quality-tested water extinguishing systems guarantee the crucial emergency aid needed in the event of a fire. An important component of the life-saving systems are motors for pumps, ensuring the necessary pressure in the pipe network even if there is power failure. This means that the extinguishing water always arrives where it is urgently needed, even in the event of a total failure of the primary supply.

Following its mission of always reliable fire protection, VdS now offers manufacturers precise assistance for the design of safe diesel pumps. CEO Robert Reinermann explains: "For the comprehensive operational safety of sprinkler systems, we are supporting those responsible in a new publication with the latest technical benchmarks. Compact 26 pages bundle VdS knowledge like design requirements for mechanical strength, hot and cold start behavior, injection and EMC resilience."

The new Guidelines with requirements and test methods for “Diesel motors for driving sprinkler pumps”, VdS 2100-47, can be downloaded free of charge from vds-shop.de/en.
