VdS and Baltic Fire Laboratory Join Forces — Certification and Testing Under One Roof

VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH, one of Europe's most respected ISO 17065 accredited certification bodies, and Baltic Fire Laboratory (BFL), an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited fire suppression testing facility based in Tuchom, Poland, have joined forces to offer manufacturers a seamless, end-to-end pathway from fire testing to product certification.

Press Release 12/2026

Tuchom, Poland / Cologne, Germany, May 2026. The collaboration brings together two complementary areas of expertise — BFL's full-scale fire testing capabilities and VdS's internationally recognized certification body — creating a uniquely powerful offering for manufacturers of water mist and fire suppression systems seeking market approval across Europe and globally.

Under ISO 17025, Baltic Fire Laboratory provides more than 80 accredited test methods for suppression & extinguishing products in their ISO17025 scope of accreditation, delivering precise, reproducible, and internationally recognized fire test results. VdS, operating under ISO 17065, takes those results, tests additional product and system requirements and issues product certifications that open doors to markets, insurers, and authorities having jurisdiction worldwide.

Bogdan Racięga, Director of Baltic Fire Laboratory, commented: "This collaboration with VdS is a game changer for fire suppression manufacturers. Instead of navigating testing and certification separately, they can now access both under one coordinated programme — saving time, reducing costs, and ensuring the highest level of technical rigour at every step."

Peter Schramm, VdS Managing Director, added: „Collaborating with BFL will accelerate full scale fire performance testing for customers without compromising quality—that’s exactly what the market demands.”

The partnership is set to significantly streamline the route to market for manufacturers of active fire suppression systems, offering a single, coordinated process from initial fire testing through to full product certification.
