Protection optimized:

No gas extinguishing system can work without reliably filled containers. VdS is now adding this important step to its range of protection services, offering the inspection and system listing of filling stations.

Cologne/Germany, June 2nd 2025. Gas extinguishing systems, usu-ally used to protect technical infrastructures, eliminate fires right at the initial stage and without leaving any residue. The reliable func-tion of the systems is verified by VdS-Approval. Until now, this certi-fication did not include the procedures for initial and regular refilling of the containers; basis of every successful firefighting. So opera-tors, insurers and authorities asked for implementation in the VdS verification processes.

"We are happy to comply with the wishes of our partners and now also ensure the reliable filling of the extinguishing agent containers through special factory audits", emphasizes Hendrik Rudolph, head of the VdS laboratories for gas extinguishing systems. "Decision-makers need to rely on their fire protection technology working safe-ly in any emergency. This is exactly what VdS-Approval stands for. We have now extended the safety chain for those important systems by a decisive step: with a new publication full of compact assistance for reliable performances of filling stations worldwide."

The newly published Guidelines VdS 6051, "Gas extinguishing sys-tems, Monitoring of filling stations", provide the accustomed precise process support for ensuring the purity of agents, environmental and personal protection and the prevention of dangerous gas leaks.
