VdS-Approval for self-testing detector
Honeywell multi sensor detector receives innovation certificate acc. to Guidelines VdS 3860, developed specifically for components with self-test devices. In addition to reliable fire detection, the new development offers users particularly convenient maintenance: all it takes is the push of a button.
Press Release 23/2024
Cologne/Germany, November 04th 2024. The required functional test of fire detectors can now be carried out simply by pushing a button: Thanks to the self-test device integrated directly into the Honeywell NFSTI-SMT2 multi sensor detector, which can generate both smoke and heat. In this way, the function of the optical and thermal sensors is immediately ensured in a practical test. A VdS-Approval now confirms the highly reliable function of this invention.
Bettina Bormann, fire protection expert in VdS product management, explains: “We congratulate the Honeywell developers on the successful Approval of their innovation. Basing on our Guidelines VdS 3860 – a special procedure for verifying the effectiveness of self-test devices which has now proven itself in practice and is open to all technologies.”
Ben Wolf, Global Product Offering Leader at Honeywell, adds: “We are very pleased to be able to now prove the comprehensive reliabil-ity of our new detector at first glance with the VdS-Approval. The NFSTI-SMT2 has already won several awards such as a golden Ed-ison and the FSM as `safety innovation of the year´.”
