Important advice for developing reliably functioning sprinkler heads summarized in compact format.
New additions include tests for tightening torque, eliminating risks by now thinner thread materials.
Press Release 21/2025
Cologne/Germany, October 1st 2025. Reliable sprinkler heads contain destructive fires right when they start. VdS has now updated and bundled its guidance for the development of these important components in the Guidelines VdS 2100-41.
”Our customers wanted compactness and clarity,“ explains Frank Bzdega, head of the VdS laboratories for water extinguishing systems. ”So we combined many previously individual VdS regulations for various special sprinklers and EN 12259-1 in the updated Guidelines. A new feature is testing for tightening torque, as current developments often use thinner threaded materials – which has already led to some breakages in practice. Those risks are eliminated for sprinklers tested according to this new publication."
The clearly structured compendium VdS 2100-41, “Sprinklers, requirements and test methods”, is available for free download at vds-shop.de/en – with precise specifications on function, strength, vibration resistance, and much more.
