Summary
The guidelines for the inspection of PV systems are to be applied where the inspection of such a PV system (photovoltaic system) is carried out on the basis of a provision in the insurance contract or in accordance with specific requirements. It is assumed that the policyholder fulfils all obligations arising from the relevant legal provisions, in particular the obligation to arrange for the necessary inspections.
The guidelines may also be applied in the context of other private-law agreements.
The aim of inspecting the PV system is to ensure that the insurer’s specific requirements regarding property protection (protection of tangible assets against financial loss due to damage, destruction or loss) and availability (protection against business interruption losses) are met. Risks to be taken into account include, amongst others: fire, storm, snow load, hail, lightning strike, power surges, flooding, heavy rain and collapse.
The inspection of PV systems in accordance with these guidelines does not release the policyholder from the obligation to carry out inspections in accordance with other standards, technical regulations or laws.
