The high pressure water mist system shall be used only for the protection of the risks/areas specified below according to VdS 3188 annex K.1.6.
Protection of selected OH-3 sales-, storage- and technique areas which are surrounded by OH1 areas.
Maximum admissible ceiling height: 4,3 m
The particular area shall be surrounded by non-combustible walls (no fire protection class). Outside the fixed walls a row of sprinklers shall be installed with the same parameterization/design as inside of the area.
It can be dispensed with a sprinkler row outside the area if the walls are fire resistant (F 90), or the walls are exterior walls of buildings, or there are protected areas other than mentioned above.
Restrictions and limitations:
- The mere sale of furniture with expanded plastics is not allowed
- For large open areas (e.g. malls), a special additional evidence is required
- No computer rooms / DP-rooms
- No storage of flammable liquids, gases etc.
- Exclusively room protection (no contents or facility protection). Storage height is dependent on the type of storage: Cat. I = 3.0 m, Cat. II = 2.,60 m, Cat. III =1.70 m and Cat. IV = 1.20 m. The chaotic storage of materials with exposed plastics surfaces which amounts up to > 25 % without cardboard packaging is allowed up to 5 % of the total storage or capacity
Types of storage ST1 - ST4:
Maximum extension of the areas: 120 m² (design of the area of protection: area plus 50 %, however max.180 m²).
Types of storage ST5 - ST6:
Design of effective area for these areas 216 m² (according to VdS 3188).
Annex 3 of the VdS-Approval and the design and installation instructions of the manufacturer (see enclosure 2) have to be observed
